What are Additional Living Expenses (ALE)?

Additional living expenses, or ALE, are extra expenses you incur if you must leave their permanent residence because of a loss. ALE categories allow you to distinguish what kind of expenses you are adding. Examples of categories might include Meals, Hotel, Rent, and Transportation.
